The aims of the course are: (1) Acquisition of fundamental knowledge about engineering geology for the purpose of application in the frame of geotechnical investigation aimed at design of engineering structures. (2) Understanding influence of geology on planning geotechnical investigation, geotechnical design, design of mining works, construction and maintenance of engineering structures. (3) Understanding the role of engineering geology in environmental protection, and prevention and mitigation of natural hazards. (4) Education in using professional literature related to the field of engineering geology aimed at understanding and continuous acquisition of new methods for solving engineering tasks.
